FieldComm Group has posted the Ethernet-APL/Ethernet-SPE Specification 2.0 for member review and comment. Members are encouraged to submit comments by May 9, 2025. |
|
The Independent Protocol Physical Layer joint Working Group have implemented an updated Port Profile Specification that adds non-intrinsically safe single pair Ethernet to the specification. The new port profiles, including power classes, are designed to extend the application of single pair Ethernet and allow users a non-intrinsically safe option for installation.
The specifications are developed and maintained through a joint collaboration between FieldComm Group, ODVA, OPC Foundation and PROFIBUS & PROFINET International. All FieldComm Group members are encouraged participate in this process. |
|
The proposed Ethernet-APL/Ethernet-SPE Specification d2.0 is provided for review. The specification was updated to add the definition of Ethernet-SPE, including, but not limited to, the following: - Ethernet- SPE definition
- Ethernet-SPE relationship to IEEE 802.3-2022 and 10BASE-T1L
- Device classification
- Device port class
- Power class
- Terminals and connectors
- Network configuration rules
The final product of this review will be submitted to IEC for standardization as IEC 63444. |
