Updated EDDL Specifications Now Available FieldComm Group and PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI) have released a set of updates to the Unified EDDL Technical Specifications. The unified specifications consist of 3 separate documents available to members as a single package – making it simpler for developers and companies to build source and adhere to the EDDL standards. The release of the EDDL specifications consists of the following updated documents: EDDL Syntax and Semantics (FCG TS61804-3) specifies the Electronic Device Description Language (EDDL), which enables the integration of real product details using the tools of the engineering life cycle. It specifies the semantic and lexical structure in a syntax-independent manner. The update is a minor revision consisting of enhancements and clarifications to time data types, edit/display format removal from the BITSTRING data type, semantic mapping and usable actions for an interactive download menu. EDD Interpretation (FCG TS61804-4) specifies EDD interpretation for EDD applications and EDDs to support EDD interoperability. This document is intended to ensure that field device developers use the EDDL constructs consistently and that the EDD applications have the same interpretations of the EDD. It supplements the EDDL Syntax and Semantics specification to promote EDD application interoperability and improve EDD portability between applications. The update is a minor revision consisting of enhancements and clarifications to root menus, label size and alignment recommendations, caches and offline storage, concatenation, and interactive downloads. EDDL Built-in Library (FCG TS61804-5) specifies the EDDL Built-in library and provides profiles for various fieldbuses including HART and FOUNDATION Fieldbus. The update is a minor revision consisting of clarifications and the addition of builtin get_status_value2(). |
