Pre-Requisites

The FDI Device Package must be scheduled for conformance testing with FieldComm Group, or it must already be registered and available via the Product Registry to qualify for the FDI Usability Evaluation Service.

Service Deliverables

The FDI Package developer receives a Usability Evaluation Report for each host platform they selected for the testing service.

The report contains a section for each host platform. The FDI Device Package is loaded on each system and the same set of evaluation criteria are performed. The test administrator will include notes and screen captures supporting their observations.

FAQ

How long does the assessment at Bilfinger take?

The complete test takes two days for a test with three hosts (Tier 1). Each additional host extends the test by half a day.  An additional week is required for report creating and shipping logistics. For planning purposes and to allow for backlog at the test facility, assume fifteen working days from receipt of the instrument at Bilfinger to receipt of the final report from FieldComm Group.

Can two or more devices be tested in parallel at Bilfinger?

Currently, the devices can only be tested sequentially.

Can I send in several packages and devices at the same time for testing?

Yes, however, the devices can only be tested sequentially. Please place an order for each FDI Package you are wanting to evaluate.

What happens if I as a developer have to make changes to the package in the middle of testing?

No changes to the package or device hardware will be accepted once they have been submitted.

Cancelation in advance of the service will result in removal from the lab schedule.  You may reschedule the service at a later date and provide the updated device hardware and package for that date.

Are shipping costs included in the price?

No.  All shipping, duties, and taxes are the responsibility of the submitter. See Shipment Requirements.

What happens to the devices after the test?

The devices can be sent back to the manufacturer or Bilfinger can dispose of them. You will indicate your choice when requesting this service.

Can the Usability Evaluation take place during development?

Yes, it's possible. If Bilfinger should find any issues during the tests, the developer has the opportunity to update the package before it is submitted to FieldComm Group for conformance testing.  You must have an active test campaign request at FieldComm Group (i.e. an open ticket for the FDI Device Package test and registration).

Is it possible to perform the Usability Evaluation after its registration with FCG?

Yes, this is also possible.

Will there be a report available after the test?

Yes, a multi-page report will be provided which records the entire evaluation and findings.
