Please update your Test System immediately if the version of Kit-192 on it is older than v3.6. The procedure on this page is not applicable to older systems.

To provision your WirelessHART device, connect a registered RS-232 HART modem between the maintenance port of your device and the serial port on the Test System that is designated for the HART Master.

Then open a terminal and type showhipapp. This will display which HART-IP Server application, if any, is currently running on the Test System. If anything other than hiptp (and hipserver) are running, terminate them by typing terminateserver. Then type provision on the command line to run the provision utility which is already installed on the Test System. It will launch hipserver+hiptp if not already running, and then start the steps of provision. The terminal running hipserver+hiptp may obscure the terminal from where you invoked provision, so it may be necessary to move the former to see the terminal running provision underneath.

Assuming that you wish to provision your device with the following hexadecimal values, enter them when prompted by the provision utility. The existing values of these parameters on the device are displayed by the provision utility. If you wish to leave any of them unchanged, press <Enter> to skip that value -

After you have provisioned your device, please type <Ctrl-C> in the hipserver+hiptp window to terminate it. Do not click on the X of the window bar to terminate it. Power cycle the device so that when powered up, it will use the newly written values to join the WirelessHART network. Unless required by a test, the RS-232 modem may be disconnected from the device so that the device can be placed a good distance away (at least 5'/2m) from the host system antenna (AccessPoint or Gateway).
