HART Server, Revision 3.2.0

Purpose and Contents

HART Server 3.2.0 is designed for Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, Win2K, WinXP, Windows Vista-Business SP1, and Windows 7. (Windows 32-bit OS)

What's New

1. Supports HART 7 devices (IO Systems, Gateway and Adapters, wired and wireless devices) on TCP/UDP and RS485

networks.

2. Supports HART 7 Adapters, wired and wireless devices on Single Serial Port.

3. Supports companies with manufacturer codes greater than 255.

4. Supports 32 character OPC Tags

5. New preference dialog for user selection of OPC Tag length and automatic renaming for empty or duplicate tags.

6. Improved detection of serial ports for Single Serial Port and RS485 networks.

7. Displays the total count number of IO Systems and Adapters on the status bar.

8. New “Cancel” feature on TCP/UDP network contextual menu to exit from long delayed response start up learns.

9. Improved response when quitting on “Learn” on TCP/UDP network.

10.Repaired numerous defects (see Modifications in Technical Notes)

Installation Prerequisites

* PC-compatible Intel Pentium

* (1) Serial port attached to a HART device via RS232/RS485 or (2) Ethernet to via TCP/UDP

Installation Procedure

To install this version, select "Setup.exe" on CD and follow directions.

Technical Notes

1. Updated Command 77 dispatch so that only one command is embedded.

2. Fixed defect to allow for a multiplexer on a RS485 network to exist with a poll address greater than 15

3. Fixed dialog freeze upon entering an incorrect IP address on the “Add IO System…” for the TCP/UDP network

4. Repaired defects in link layer on the TCP/UDP: (a) prevent “lock up” or 90-100% CPU load when receiving an incorrect

response/command mismatched from a Gateway and (b) command is re-issued for no response when retries not exhausted.

5. Updated the link layer on RS485 to verify correct responses and command matches from IO Systems.

6. Fixed defect on a crash that occurs during TCP/UDP learn process when Gateway reports IO Card but no instrument exists.

7. Fixed defect on crash that occurs in TCP/UDP statistics when no Gateway is installed on the interface.

8. Fixed memory leaks that occur when deleting a Gateway on TCP/UDP network.

9. Fixed defect to no longer convert version 2.1 projects to channel numbers from 2 to 3 digits.

10. Updated GetId() to support Multiplexer, IO Systems and Adapters.

11.Updated HART Server Help for support of TCP and UDP based IO systems and other HART 7 devices.

12.Updated Manufacturer and Expanded Device Type codes in Tables.ini

Known Issues

1. The initial release of Windows 95 does not support DCOM. Therefore, the HART Server will not function properly on the

initial release of Windows.

2. Service Packs 3, 5 or 6 are required for Windows NT for HART Server to function correctly.

3. Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater is needed for HTML Help to function.

Reporting Problems and Suggestions

Technical Support is available by submitting a support ticket. Problem  reports should include:

- System Configuration (CPU/speed, amount of RAM, OS version, Service Pack installed).

- Detailed problem description (include exact error message text).

- Exact steps to reproduce the problem.

- Screen shots to illustrate the problem.
